BRUTAL: Chiefs young buck looks for high fives after disgusting illegal hit on Hurricanes player

As far as ‘big hits’ go, this is a pretty big one. But it is also highly illegal.

The Hurricanes took on the Chiefs today in Waikato looking for a potential route to the knockout stages of Super Rugby 2018. However they got a lot more than they bargained for in the 62nd minute of the clash when Johnny Fa’auli collided with Hurricanes back Wes Goosen.

Fa’auli has certainly made a name for himself this season as one of the big hitters in the league this year with some thunderous tackles. However the 22 year old New Zealander came unstuck today when his shoulder connected with Goosen’s head, and quite brutally may we add.

The Canes coach Chris Boyd was far from happy with the hit itself and it appears neither was the Hurricanes social media team, allegedly tweeting:

What a shocker… player with a bad history of that crap.

The official Hurricanes twitter has since deleted that tweet and went for a more neutral perspective…

This is not the first time that the Kiwi prospect has found himself in hot water. In 2017 Fa’auli was given a four week ban for another no arms tackle on former Bulls centre Jan Serfontein. The original recommended suspension was to be six weeks, however it was reduced to four following an appeal.

The hit itself is wince inducing to say the least, so be ready to cringe with sympathy.
