Cipriani lights up Bath training with moment of magic

One of the most highly anticipated arrivals ahead of the new Gallagher Premiership season is Danny Cipriani’s at Bath.

The former England fly-half joined Bath at the back end of last season having taken a stint out of the game following his departure from their West Country rivals Gloucester in December, but he is effectively like a new signing going into this season and brings a lot of promise. Cipriani remains one of the greatest attacking talents of his generation and with some of the talent elsewhere in Bath’s back line, he could light up the Rec this season.

Already in preseason the 33-year-old has provided a glimpse of what he is capable of with a sublime bit of skill by chipping a loose ball into his hands while his back line were running at full tilt. It is only a small piece of skill, but it is a moment like this that separate players like Cipriani from the rest; the ability to think on his feet and at speed.

The 16-cap international remains one of the most popular players in England, as he has been throughout his career, and will attract a lot of supporters at Bath this season. If he brings any of the form he showed during his time with the Cherry and Whites, where he was named the RPA players’ player of the year in 2019, it could be a successful season at the Rec.

Bath get their season underway with a visit to the AJ Bell Stadium to take on last season’s semi-finalists Sale Sharks on Saturday September 18th. Cipriani will likely be starting that match, and it will also mark a return to the club he played for between 2012 and 2016.
