Former England winger Marland Yarde has revealed that his teammates have recently received death threats in an emotional statement online.
The Sale Sharks winger took to Twitter today to release a full statement on the matter.
The 28-year-old has been outspoken about player welfare as well as his support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Today at 1pm, Yarde released two separate tweets outlining how his teammates had been on the receiving end of death threats.
The statement read as…
I stand 100% for the Black Lives Matter movement and whole heartedly believe in the importance of highlighting the continuous battle that we face in society everyday and the need for a change. I have to also stand against death threats against my teammates which is totally unacceptable. This behaviour will not make the world a better place. We are united we are a team!
It is rumoured that the South African contingent of the Sale Sharks team have received a shower of abuse in recent days as rhey refused to kneel during the Black Lives Matter pre-game event due to their religious beliefs.

Feedback will be provided to sports minister Nathi Mthethwa after he asked SA Rugby to provide clarity in response to certain players opting not to take a knee prior to the latest English Premiership matches.https://t.co/KtBL51oU3U

Look at this! South Africa’s men rugby players, playing for Sale Sharks in England, refused 2 take a knee in support and acknowledgement of #BlackLivesMatter. They wore the mandatory team T shirt – about being against racism. Much later for these white privileged sportsmen of SA! pic.twitter.com/ufkLX64Er0

We are not sure whether Marland Yarde was standing with these players that have received critisism for this, however it is very clear that the England winger is backing his teammates in this case.
