New angle shows Maro Itoje manhandling Eben Etzebeth during brawl

A new angle clearly shows magnificent British & Irish Lions second row Maro Itoje manhandling Eben Etzebeth during the all-in brawl in Cape Town.

Maro lets Eben grab him from behind and swing him around. You can clearly see the fear in Eben’s eyes as he shoves Maro backward.

We feel for him as we experienced fear once and we didn’t like it either.

Maro actually saves Tom Curry from Eben, because the big South African was clearly about to fill him in.

The Lions may have lost the second Test 27 – 9, but they have clearly won the war.

Stuart Hogg has also destroyed the scandalous accusation that he bit Willie Le Roux. “Following speculation that has surfaced online, I would like to categorically deny any foul play in last night’s game. I would never bite an opponent and I am annoyed and upset by this unsubstantiated accusation. I’ve always been proud of playing rugby in the spirit of the game.

“Respect to the Springboks for their deserved win yesterday. The squad is hurting after last night’s defeat, but it’s all to play for next week. It’s going to be a cup final and everyone’s going to be up for it.”

Again, another moral victory for the mighty Lions.

There is good news for the Boks though. Elderly back row Duane Vermeulen will rejoin the camp this week.

“Duane will join us on Sunday and will be medically assessed as soon as possible,” said Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber.

“We will never risk a player who is not 100% fit but he brings experience to the squad and it will be great to have him with us.”

Nienaber added that the Boks will know more about Pieter-Steph du Toit’s injury on Monday. PSDT was injured after being dumped on his behind by Duhan van der Merwe.
