All Blacks shine but Fiji get No.1 spot on ‘Try assists from long passes’ video

World Rugby have put together a great compilation of try assists from the annals of the Rugby World Cup and it’s actually a really good watch.

There’s something poetic about a long pass to set up a try, amidst the violence of a rugby match, a softly floated ball will beat defences simply by evading their clutches.

It’s a passive skill in a sense, defeating the banality of the physical, the macho; with something more yielding, unsupported and elegant.

The likes of Malakai Fekitoa (New Zealand), Beauden Barrett (New Zealand) and Bernard Foley (Australia) all feature in this video, which must be watched by everyone. Show the dog too.

Yet while their passes were all good, it is Fiji that claim the top spot.
