Do Scotland now have the best backline in the Six Nations

Scotland rugby could very well have the best backline in the Six Nations this season. We are going to tell you why.

Yesterday Scotland announced their Six Nations squad. Just by looking at some of the names in the back line list, it is very clear to see that the men in blue are going to have a very strong team this season.

We thought it would be worthwhile compiling a potential backline for the Scottish team, questioning whether they do indeed have the best back line in the Six Nations this year.

It was recently announced that 21-year old Cameron Redpath has been added to the Scotland team after years of debate about whether he would choose France, England or Scotland as his main team. This is massive news for Scotland as the son of Bryan Redpath has been in sensational form this season.

On the wings, Scotland is blessed with two of the most deadly finishers in the Northern Hemisphere. Duhan van der Merwe recently signed for Worcester Warriors in England, at just 25 years of age, he is still entering his prime and could be pivotal for the men in blue this tournament. On the opposite Wing, they have Darcy Graham, who despite his size, can be equally considered as one of the best finishers competition.

Couple that with Finn Russell and Stuart Hogg who are arguably the best players in their position in the world. Put them all together and you have one of the best back lines in the Six Nations.

We were given just a taste of the brilliance of the Scotland backline a couple of years ago when Huw Jones and Russell combined to tear apart the red roses at Murrayfield.

The 10 and 13 combined together sensationally as they scored the try of the tournament.

The Scots will be hoping that their forward pack are able to give this side the proper support that they deserve if they want to have any chance of competing for the title this year.

We have faith in them!

Here is a look at how the team might shape up against England in a week’s time.

9. Ali Price

10. Finn Russell

12. Scott Hastings

13. Cam Redpath

14. Duhan Van der Merwe

15. Stuart Hogg

This team will do very well if they get the support they need behind them.
