England only lost to SA as part of elaborate World Cup rope-a-dope ploy

Brave England only lost to South Africa in Twickenham today as part of an elaborate Rugby World Cup rope-a-dope ploy ahead of France next year.

Eddie Jones is playing 4D chess and effectively wants England to play possum in front of the Springboks pretty, who obvious tactics will almost certainly bring to France in 2023.

Meanwhile, no team on earth knows how England will play next year, as Jones has cleverly disguised any apparent coherence in the way they play rugby. People may boo but the smart people in the room can see what the Aussie battler is trying to do.

No one knows what England will bring to the field next year. Not even the players.

It’s actually super clever.

Meanwhile France, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia have all worked out the Boks and will not fear from them next year. However the arrogance in the coaching department of South Africa means that Rassie and Jacques think they just have a do-over with the same players and tactics as 2019 and win it again.

If you wanted proof that England wasn’t taking it seriously you need only look at Maro Itoje after the final whistle.

He was grinning as he left the field, even as England were being booed by their own fans. This was next level from the world’s best lock, who also let Eben Etzebeth beat him around the park as part of the plan.

It’s called selling it. It’s just smart. England are smart. And brave.
