‘They’ll have a plan’- warning sent to Eddie Jones ahead of Japan

All Blacks great Josh Kronfeld has said that his old teammate, Japan coach Jamie Joseph, would have looked at England’s loss to Argentina on Sunday and will “have a plan” ahead of their encounter at Twickenham this Saturday.

Eddie Jones’ side conceded 18 points worth of penalties in their 30-29 loss to the Pumas, and it could actually have been more. A heavy pack and back line produced quite a slow and ponderous match, unsurprisingly, which is the opposite of Japan’s high tempo style. There is a clear clash of styles, but Kronfeld has said that Japan will have seen England concede a large number of penalties at the breakdown and struggle to generate any quick ball, and will have a plan.

“It was the most fantastic game of penalties that I’ve ever seen. It was tit for tat scoring penalties,” the former flanker said on The Crowd Goes Wild this week in New Zealand.

“[Japan] will have a plan. They’ll have a plan. They would have seen what they’ve seen there and they’ll have a plan. It was a crazy game. Argentina were just constantly getting in on their tackle ball so England never go their front foot going. Argentina scored a couple of lovely tries, they’re just growing and growing. Looking forward to the World Cup.”

Take a look:

Japan came very close to upsetting the All Blacks two weeks ago, where Joseph irked quite a few All Blacks supporters with his post match comments. The former All Black said “The key for us really is to go to England now and replicate that performance against a better side,” which clearly did not go down too well in New Zealand. But the All Blacks made a pretty impressive statement a week later in Cardiff against Wales, coming away 55-23 winners ahead of a match against Scotland this weekend.
