We witnessed one of the best ever try saving tackles possible in the Top 14 in France this weekend. It also exemplified how important it is to carry the ball in the right hand.
We go weak at the knees for try saving tackles purely because of the fact that they are so hard to execute. When you are one on one with the player who has just made a break and the team is relying on you to tackle him or you give away a try, the pressure is really on.
Filipo Nakosi was the star this weekend in the Top 14, saving an almost guaranteed try for Stade Francais as the team came racing down the left-hand side of the pitch.
The Stade team made a fantastic break down the left-hand side, however, he was holding the ball in the wrong hand. If you look at the clip you can see that you should always hold the ball on the side where the opposition is.
From the right of this image, Nakosi came flying out of nowhere to make the perfect tackle, knocking the ball out of the opposition’s hand mid hit.
The small crowd at the stadium lost their mind as the big hit was put on the player.
The Stade player is inconsolable after the tackle, while Nakosi can’t believe he managed to make the try saving tackle.
The Top 14 has actually been the most entertaining division of rugby since the sport has returned. The tackle was brilliant and it’s indicative of how French rugby is always entertaining.
