NRL produces first ever Michael Jackson moonwalk inspired try

South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Jaxson Paulo took inspiration from his namesake Michael Jackson for a try in the NRL preliminary final on Friday. Yes, you read that correctly.

After rising to take a high bomb ten metres out from the try line, the 21-year-old twisted in the air which meant his back was facing the try line as he landed. Instead of turning, Paulo opted to keep his eyes on the three Manly Sea Eagles defenders pursuing him and jogged backwards towards the line to produce a try Michael Jackson himself would have been proud of. The only things that were missing were a pair of cropped trousers, a fedora and some white gloves.

The Rabbitohs won the match comfortably to book their place in the Grand Final, with Paulo’s try certainly being the most unique-looking of the match. That just means there is another chance to turn to Jackson’s vast repertoire of dance moves for another try now the moonwalk has been taken.
