Shocking new video shows just how arrogant the Springbok rugby team was in 2009

A new video has revealed just how deluded the Springbok rugby coaching staff was back in 2009 when they won the series against the British & Irish Lions.

An interview with Peter de Villiers who was the head coach of the South African rugby team at the time had been published by Rugbypass.

The video shows the coach laughing off an incident when Springbok flanker Schalk Burger was videoed eye-gouging Lions player Luke Fitzgerald. The Springbok rugby team was one of the strongest it had ever been in 2009.

Here is footage of that incident.

The tour itself was infamous for the dirty play that was involved in it.

Burger was subsequently banned from the game, however the video shows the mindset of the South African team at the time.

The video itself has received a lot of mixed views from opposing fans. Many fans commented on the fact that if it had been the Lions doing that it would have been a much bigger deal. However, the South African team at the time were known for being enforcers and playing on the edge of the law. Could they have got away with this kind of cheating in the modern era?

Here is a video showing Peter de Villiers giving his reaction while he defends the South African rugby team for their cheating. It also shows Lions coach Graham Rowntree speaking in no uncertain terms about his disgust at the Springboks head coach for defending The eye-gouging.

South Africa will hopefully take on the Lions this summer in the Lions series the South African rugby team wants to do this they would probably receive a lifetime ban.

Rugby Onslaught works in the dark to help others see the light.
