The Rugby Onslaught Six Nations preview – Why this is going to be the best tournament yet

Well slap my thigh and call me daddy, it’s Six Nations time again. You know the drill, bish bash bosh, who we think is going to win, player to watch and that’s that.

WALES

The Welsh have been giving it the billy big balls since they finished fourth in the Rugby World Cup. You’d have thought the boys from the West had won the thing with the chat that we have heard on our page in the last 2 months.

Here’s a cheeky reality check for the boys in red. You’re not going to win this year. Wales have to play Ireland in Dublin and England at Twickenham, it’s just not going to be your year.

not as good

Player to watch – Tomos Williams

We wanted to say Louis Rees-Zammit, we really did. But in our hopes to remain different and edgy compared to the rest of the rugby World we had to go for Tomos Williams. The scrum-half for Wales is going to do mad things for Wales in this 6N. We firmly believe he should be the starting 9 for them.

Some insane speed and can score from anywhere on the park, watch this man go…

Our prediction: 5th Place

Will lose to both England and Ireland this year.

SCOTLAND

I will borrow the popular phrase from Trainspotting to describe the Scotland preparation to this Six Nations, “It’s SHITE being Scottish”.

I genuinely feel sorry for Scottish fans this year, the team is blessed with the single most outrageously talented fly-half in World Rugby, and the lad gets kicked out for sinking a couple of cold ones with the boys.

Scotland’s hopes of winning the tournament dropped significantly with the news of Russell dropping out. They are now 25,000/1 to win the title after he was booted. They were 25/1 before…

Player to watch: Rinn Fussell

A new player appears to have been drafted in to represent Scotland at last-minute notice and his name is Rinn Fussell. We haven’t heard a great deal about this bloke but he will be replacing Finn Russell this weekend.

The Wild card has came out of nowhere for this weekend’s clash…

Our prediction: 4th Place

Scotland will undoubtedly be pinning all their hopes on a 2nd place finish when in reality they will judge their campaign on whether or not they beat England at Murrayfield, and the Calcutta cup is all that matters!

IRELAND

Ireland have made very little in terms of changes for their Six Nations campaign.

After a depressingly average World Cup tournament, the boys in green have gone for Sexton as their captain. A 34-year-old piece of glass captaining your team is always the hallmark of a team to watch out for trust me lads.

The starting team for Ireland against Scotland has a whole host of new faces in the team, with the likes of O’Mahony being pushed to the bench for the clash.

Player to watch: Caelan Doris

The starting Number 8 for Ireland has been doing bits for Leinster this year, and he has pushed CJ Stander to the blindside.

doris

Watch out for this backline from Ireland though. Sexton may be ancient but the rest of the backs are savage, with Jordan Larmour finally being trusted to start at full-back.

Our prediction: 3rd place

A year of rebuilding for Irish.

FRANCE

I’ve got a genuine soft spot for the French boiz this year, and with former Welsh defence coach Shaun Edwards in their camp, we should all be worried about them.

France have brought in SO MANY new players to their squad. These players will not have experienced losing in a French team. This could be bad, or it could be a masterstroke from Fabian Galthie, the new French head coach.

France have lacked organisation for a long time, with no coach able to keep them in check.

It looks like they’re finally fully switched on and looking dangerous.

We found this video of the French team training this week and they are carrying an aura of confidence about them which we are sure has to do with the arrival of Edwards…

France are looking mad confident…

Player to watch: Gabriel NGANDEBE

The Montpellier winger was born to score tries, the winger is another of the many new players to be brought into this French squad. He plays in a similar style to that of Jonny May, with serious pace and the ability to get on the end of every ball. If he starts, he will score.

Our Prediction: First Place

This is their year, they’re organised, they have England at home and they have Ireland at home. You heard it here, not first but you did hear it here.

ENGLAND

Shoulder boy and the crew will have all the pressure on them after they finished 2nd in the Rugby World Cup.

Much has been made of the preparation that has hindered the England team in the lead up to the tournament, with Saracens being dropped a league. It will undoubtedly hinder them, no matter what everyone says.

The men in white have a favourable fixture list this year, with Ireland and Wales both being played at home. We expect them to win those games. But they will lose to Scotland.

By the time England come round to playing Scotland, Finn Russell will be back in the team, and he will get the chance to do this again to England at Murrayfield.

The pass of the century…

Player to watch: Ted Hill

Me oh my what a big boy this is. The Worcester back-rower is just 20-years-old but he is bigger than most men. He came to fame after he destroyed one of the Tuilagi brothers in this highlight reel. We think Eddie Jones will pick him at Number 8 for the clash against France.

Either that or he will inure him in training and we will never hear from him again.

He has an unreal highlight reel

Our prediction: 2nd place

They will impress in the tough games but choke harder than a dominatrix victim when it comes to the clash at Murrayfield.

ITALY

What can we say, Italy NEED to win some games this year, if they lose every game again, serious questions are going to be asked about whether this team is fit to stay in this tournament?

Player to watch: Jake Polledri

With Parisse slowly being ushered out of the back door for the men in blue. It is now the Gloucester Back row’s chance to shine as Italy’s main forward.

Our Prediction: Wooden Spoon

Don’t hate us because we’re damning the Italian, they did that themselves!
