VIDEO: Police release footage of pursuit and tazering of former Rugby League player

Former English rugby league player Scott Moore was tasered six times with 50,000-volt stun guns before eventually being stopped by Greater Manchester Police.

Moore became Super League’s youngest-ever player after lining out for St Helens at just 16 years of age and was capped twice by England during his career.

The pursuit lasted a total of 50 minutes, following a car chase where Moore reached speeds in excess of 240 km/h.

At one point the 95kg Moore managed to take the taser from one of the officers, pointed it at him and exclaimed: “you’re getting it now!”

“In all their careers, the officers at the scene had never been so scared nor witnessed such a violent individual that had so much strength to fight,” said Detective Constable Lynsey Watson-Perry.

After pleading guilty to dangerous driving and three counts of assault, Moore was sentenced to one year and eleven months behind bars.

Moore previously played in the Super League for St Helens, Huddersfield Giants, London Broncos and Castleford Tigers and in the NRL for North Queensland Cowboys.
