Wild scenes as bronze medal winners Argentina arrive at Olympic village

Argentina won their first ever medal in rugby sevens at the Olympics on Wednesday, beating Great Britain 17-12 in Tokyo to win the bronze medal.

While they obviously did not win gold or silver, with those medals going to Fiji and New Zealand, respectively, this is a huge accomplishment, particularly when looking at the events of the tournament.

The Pumas triumphed over South Africa, who have won two of the past four World Rugby Sevens Series, in the quarter-final and were even down to five men at one point during that match. In light of that achievement, this was an emotional victory for Argentina.

Not only did the victory mean a lot to the players, but their compatriots in the Olympic village were equally as jubilant and welcomed the team back in style. Argentina shared on Twitter the moment their players stepped off the coach and were met by chants across the Olympic village.
