All Blacks’ McKenzie lands Carter-esque kick in windy conditions

Damian McKenzie was fighting against the elements this week as he practiced his kicking ahead of the All Blacks’ clash with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.

The fullback, who has actually not been selected for the match this weekend, was practicing his goal kicking in some blustery conditions this week and produced one that was strikingly similar to Dan Carter’s legendary wind kick for the Crusaders.

Take a look at McKenzie’s third kick in the video:

For comparison, here is Carter’s kick:

In truth, Carter’s kick is better, and the fact that it was in a match makes it even more special. But McKenzie’s is not too far off. Unfortunately for the All Blacks kickers, the conditions in Dublin on Saturday are not too bad, so they may not be able to show off all their good work.
