All Black goes up yet another level in Japan

Ngani Laumape’s brilliant start to life in Japan Rugby League One continued at the weekend against the Green Rockets Tokatsu.

After his hat-trick the week before against the Hanazono Kintetsu Liners, the Kobelco Kobe Steelers centre decided to show off his creative side on Sunday, playing a vital role in three tries in his side’s 43-33 win.

In fact, it was a performance so good that the 15-cap All Black actually shared a video of his performance on social media, and it is easy to understand why.

In amongst his usual rampaging runs, where he bounced basically every member of the opposition, and brick wall defence, there was a touch of finesse in there as well. That included a perfectly weighted chip to create the opening try of the match inside the first two minutes.

This is the sort of touch that is expected from a fly-half, not a 100 kg wrecking ball centre. Take a look at the highlights reel shared by Laumape:
