Quite possibly the most Welsh rugby promo ever has been created for a small rugby club
Not many rugby clubs can boast having an award winning actor in their promotional video, but Welsh outfit Aberavon have pulled out all the stops and recruited the services of Michael Sheen ahead of their new Welsh Premiership season.
Sheen stars in a rousing three minute video describing the proud history “one hundred and forty five years in the making” in which the Talbot Athletic Ground “patch of green earth is our very own universe,” with “the echoes of a thousand scrums.”
Promotional videos do not get much more epic than this, and the video continues to get more and more dramatic. The Welshman goes on to say “heroes have been made here in this cauldron of hope a possibility,” with an array of Welsh stars hailing from the club, including this year’s British & Irish Lions tourists Justin Tipuric and Adam Beard.
The video ends in inspiring fashion, looking back over the pandemic before welcoming fans back to “be part of the magic too.”

Doorstop deliveries and gestures of love through windows abound. And when Christmas came, we shone a light through the darkness as a reminder of better days ahead. Following a preseason in which they lost to Ebbw Valley and Newport, and beat Llandovery, Aberavon get their Premiership season underway this Saturday at 14:30 at the Talbot Athletic Ground with a visit from Llanelli.
