Antoine Dupont continues to find new ways to amaze us

The sign that France captain Antoine Dupont is truly a world class player is that, despite being World Rugby player of the year, he still finds ways to amaze spectators every time he plays.

After a summer of hearing the rugby world waxing lyrical about the likes of Lukhanyo Am and Ardie Savea, the scrum-half will be desperate to show everyone that he is still the best player in the game, and a tiny bit of skill against Bordeaux Begles at the weekend shows helped his case.

The No9 had the job of clearing up a loose ball from a lineout at the Stade Chaban Delmas Sunday, but improvised a little by chipping the ball to Anthony Jelonch rather than passing. Dupont is the reason why France and Toulouse play at an insane tempo at times, and choosing to bypass catching and passing the ball in favour of just kicking it will certainly help boost the speed of play.

Okay, it’s not the greatest thing he’s ever done on a rugby pitch, but it’s a new thing he can add to his bag of tricks.
