England replacement makes the greatest impact ever in rugby

As far as substitute appearances go, they do not come much better than England hooker Connie Powell’s against Scotland on Saturday in the Women’s Six Nations.

Gloucester’s substitute hooker had only been on the field for nine seconds before she was diving over the line to score her second try in her second cap.

Technically she had been on longer, but her first action was throwing the ball into the lineout, which meant she was not actually on the field of play. It was at 62:05 that she actually stepped onto the pitch after throwing in, and it was 62:14 that she was scoring after joining a powerful England maul.
