WATCH: The extremely high risk way to prevent a 50:22

Sometimes, the most skilful moments on a rugby pitch leave us all asking ‘how’? Other times, many of us simply ask ‘why’? It was a little bit of both recently in Major League Rugby as the Utah Warriors hosted the Chicago Hounds at the Zions Bank Stadium.

This exact moment came as Utah poked a kick into Chicago’s 22, and came within inches of a 50:22 save for winger Julian Dominguez. However, the Argentinian’s method to prevent the ball going out was unorthodox to say the very least.

Dominguez opted for a casual left-footed sidefoot volley to keep the ball in play, rather than the far, far more sensible option of tapping the ball into the field of play with his hand. Then again, it came off, so who are we to question what he did? But an option like that had disaster written all over it, from missing the ball completely to not getting the correct strength on the kick.
