All Blacks ask steward for tips after smoking pitch invading Bok fan
Run onto the pitch at your peril if you are a fan, as there are plenty of stewards that are lining up to absolutely marmalise you.
One unlucky South Africa fan will bear witness to that after they thought they would try their luck against the security team at the Mbombela Stadium following the final whistle on Saturday. As the two sides were shaking hands after the match, footage was captured of one fan trying to make it across the field, only to be met by the left shoulder of one of the security team, who smashed the invader into the ground to show that it is not just players that can produce hits like that.
This may have been a case of excitement spilling over, as the Boks had recorded their biggest win over the All Blacks in 94 years with their 26-10 win. Footage of the hit has now been shared on Instagram by ballcarrierrugby.
This one incident does not detract from what an occasion it was in Nelspruit, where the crowd created a lively atmosphere across the 80 minutes. Springboks captain Siya Kolisi actually commended the crowd after the game for the atmosphere they created.
“I just don’t know how South African people do it.
“The way they turn up with everything that’s going on in our country. People who can still afford it, still come along and still full up the stadium for us and it means the world to us as a team.
“Running out and hearing people screaming like that it drives us as a team. That’s what Jacques [Nienaber] always reminds us: ‘it’s not about me’. If I make a mistake, I must keep on going because it’s about the people who are coming each and every time to watch us play.
“I hope we made them proud today, because they definitely got us going from the anthem onwards.”
