Alun Wyn Jones immediately wins over Toulon public with post-match act of class

If being the most capped player in the history of rugby was not enough to curry favour with the Toulon faithful, Alun Wyn Jones’ recent antics have surely made the former Wales captain a fan favourite now.

Following Toulon’s first home Top 14 game of the season on Saturday against Bayonne, Jones was filmed picking up litter from the pitch and putting it in a bin at the Stade Mayol.

Maybe he is hoping to join the grounds staff at the end of his career, maybe he is appalled by the amount of litter in France, or maybe he is just a good guy, but this is a surefire way to win over the public of any team.

Another way to win over the public is to bring Toulon the kind of success they enjoyed a decade ago, and the 37-year-old made a good start in his first start of the season as Toulon won 19-14. This was a week after a league debut to forget for the Welshman as he was yellow carded after coming on as a substitute in a loss to Lyon.
