Calls grow for entire England team to makes Lions XV after dominating World Cup
You heard it here first. 2025. British & Irish Lions versus Australia. 15 Australians versus 15 Englishmen. It just makes sense.
After England marched towards the World Cup semi-final on Sunday against Fiji in Marseille, the entire rugby world are questioning just one thing. Is there any point in selecting players from any other country?
Scotland tried at this World Cup and did not make it out of their pool. Wales tried and crashed out in the quarter-finals. Ireland tried and fell at the same stage too. But the unbeaten England continue to steamroller towards the final at the Stade de France and quite possibly the Webb Ellis Cup. Now sources close to Rugby Onslaught have confirmed that the higher-ups in the Lions set-up are seriously considering selecting this entire England squad.
Surely that only means Steve Borthwick will be Lions head coach as well up against Eddie Jones (should he remain in the job), which is what the entire world wants to see. Rumours are that Andy Farrell and Gregor Townsend will be called to be part of Borthwick’s backroom staff but only, and we quote, as ‘tealadies’.
A likely victory over the Springboks next week in the semi-final and a win over Argentina the week later in the final will all but seal it for the future Lions XV.
