‘Damian McKenzie is the best rugby player in the world’- Twitter on All Black

The Chiefs’ Damian McKenzie took a massive step towards starting for the All Blacks in the Rugby Championship with a match-winning performance against the Brumbies in the Super Rugby Pacific semi-final against the Brumbies on Saturday.

Starting at No10, the 28-year-old kicked twelve points in the match before his crucial break in the closing minutes led to Brodie Retallick’s try. McKenzie converted the try to put the game out of reach and book the Chiefs’ place in the final against the Crusaders next week.

Since the end of the match, fans have flocked to Twitter in their droves to comment on his game, with plenty labelling him as the best player in the world currently after his stellar season where the Chiefs have only lost one game. This performance came just 24 hours after another shaky game from the Blues’ Beauden Barrett, meaning the All Blacks’ No15 shirt is well and truly up for grabs. Another big performance against the Crusaders next week might well be enough for him.
