England fans demand Henry Arundell starts after yet another epic display

It was virtually guaranteed that London Irish’s teenage sensation Henry Arundell was going to make Eddie Jones’ 36-man training squad for a mini-camp next month given the way he started his international career against Australia in July and how he has started the season for the Exiles.

But making the squad is not enough for many England fans, who are now calling for the fullback to start in the autumn internationals. Two tries in the first game of the season, two assists in the second, and both a try and an assist in the third game is a pretty good return so far for Arundell in the Gallagher Premiership, and that is why there are calls for him to be in Jones’ starting XV.

He got his assist within the opening five minutes of the match against Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate on Saturday, gliding round an outside shoulder in the 15 metre channel before passing to Ben White:

He grabbed his try early in the second half after the ball was basically passed straight into his hands by a Bristol player in his own 22. Though he had a distance to run, there was no one in the back field and with the pace he has, there was only going to be one outcome:

The fullback also linked up with England teammate Will Joseph a few minutes later with a back and forth between the pair down the right flank to set up Paddy Jackson’s try.
