France’s World Cup hopes on verge of collapse after Dupont goes mad with power

The past four years must have been hard for Antoine Dupont with seemingly the entire rugby world saying that he is the best player in the world, and plenty even tipping him to become the greatest of all time.

Eventually all that hype is going to get the better of a player, and unfortunately for Fabien Galthie and his squad, that has happened just before France are set to host the World Cup.

The initial signs out of France’s training camp in Marcoussis is that the Toulouse scrum-half has become drunk with power, and the latest video footage all but confirms that.

The 2021 World Rugby player of the year is now demanding that he both throws the ball in at the lineout and plays scrum-half at the same time. Footage of the French training camp shows Dupont throwing the ball in before wrapping around and receiving the ball behind the lineout.

This might only be the tip of the iceberg though. Rugby Onslaught have heard rumours that the scrum-half is finding a way in which he can throw in to the lineout, get lifted at the lineout and then play scrum-half at the lineout. He is even trying to find a way to become the first player to lift themself at the lineout. To most of us that sounds impossible, but that only makes the challenge more appealing to the player who may one day be regarded as the best of all time. From there, Dupont then wants to feed the ball into the scrum, hook the ball at the scrum and then play No8.

Take a look at France’s training camp:

France get their World Cup preparations underway next weekend against Scotland in Edinburgh before hosting the same opponents a week later. Matches against Fiji and Australia follow that before they get the World Cup underway in Paris against the All Blacks.
