Leicester Tigers basically score a rugby own goal

This is effectively an own goal from Leicester Tigers.

Leicester Tigers throw a quick lineout on their own 5-metre line, which their own players weren’t even ready for. Who does this?

The resulting turnover led to a bonus-point clinching try for Northampton Saints. “It’s an own goal Lawrence,” said Ugo Monye. Correct.

This seems like a Tigers’ side in free fall right now.

Leicester Tigers included all six of the club’s England Rugby World Cup squad in the starting XV for the match, but it didn’t seem to help.

Jonny May made his first appearance since the World Cup Final as Tigers made the short journey to Franklin’s Gardens and international colleagues Dan Cole, Ellis Genge, Ben Youngs, George Ford and Manu Tuilagi were all named in Geordan Murphy’s team.

Jaco Taute played in the Gallagher Premiership for the first time, starting at centre alongside Tuilagi, and there was also a recall for Jonah Holmes, Tom Youngs, Calum Green and Sione Kalamafoni after sitting out the European win over Cardiff Blues last weekend.

Sam Lewis and Jordan Coghlan, who both started against the Blues in the Challenge Cup, are included among the replacements this week but Hanro Liebenberg, Tommy Reffell, Will Spencer, Ifereimi Boladau, Jordan Taufua and Tatafu Polota-Nau were all ruled out.
