Massive career change lined up for Eben Etzebeth after latest Bok camp video
Ever since footage emerged from South Africa’s 14-man ‘three-week physical and rugby development camp’ of the players playing volleyball, rugby will have a tough job keeping hold of Eben Etzebeth.
In a game of volleyball in which Etzebeth towered over his teammates and opponents, the entire scene bizarrely looked like the lock had taken his children out for a day out at the beach. The World Cup winner was seen swatting away balls with consummate ease at the net.
Yes, the net was probably not regulation height, and yes he probably lacks many of the skills that make a good beach volleyball player, but after winning almost everything there is to win in rugby, he might be gunning for volleyball now.
Meanwhile, Etzebeth’s Sharks lost to the reigning United Rugby Championship winners the Stormers on Saturday in a South African derby which leaves them in seventh place in the league table.

Springboks director of rugby Rassie Erasmus said about ths camp: “This is a massive year for the team, and we can’t wait to get back into the swing of things with an eye on the World Cup.
“With the Vodacom URC on the go we only have a small bunch of players available to work with at this stage, but we know from past experience that every minute with the players on and off the field counts in a World Cup year.
“I would like to thank the franchises for their cooperation and assistance in ensuring that some of our key players could get the rest they needed physically and mentally as we enter this critical year for the team and the country.
“I would also like to thank MyPlayers for their role in making the break possible for the players.”
