Bok World Cup winner brutally slams Alun Wyn Jones online in All Blacks loss
Former Springbok loosehead Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira has said that it is “time to retire” for former Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones.
The World Cup winner wrote this on Twitter during Wales’ 55-23 loss to the All Blacks on Saturday at the Principality Stadium, where the 37-year-old came on at half time. The Tweet came shortly after Aaron Smith scored a try where he skinned the Welsh defenders around the breakdown, one of which was Jones. The try was not really down to the lock, but he was seen scrambling back to catch Smith, which he failed to do. Then again, not many people would expect him to catch the All Black.
In terms of retiring from Test rugby on a high, no one did it better than Mtawarira, who retired after the Springboks’ World Cup win over England in 2019. Given his experience, he gave this advice: “Alun Wyn Jones about time to retire…a good dancer knows when to leave the dance floor…I am sure there is a young Welsh lock waiting for his turn in that jersey.”
