Ntamack and Dupont prove why France must not win the World Cup

Rugby fans across the world got a glimpse this week of what might happen in a few months if France win their home World Cup, and they are not pleasant scenes.

After winning the Top 14 title in Paris on Saturday, the Toulouse squad have been celebrating in style. This included what seems to be the tradition whenever a team wins the Bouclier de Brennus- taking the shield to the beach. Footage has been shared online of both Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack skimboarding the shield at the beach, leaving many terrified fans questioning what they would do to desecrate the Webb Ellis Cup should they win it.

The sight of the French players playing volleyball with the trophy, tennis, or even using it to hammer in nails are all well within the realms of possibility after this latest footage has emerged. Ntamack might well have won the match against La Rochelle in the most epic fashion possible with his solo effort, but there is nothing to say he will not do the same again for Les Bleus at the Stade de France in four month’s time- and the results could be catastrophic if he does.

While some will say that it is all part of the tradition to desecrate the Bouclier de Brennus, the French players have a taste for vandalism now. They simply cannot be trusted with such a hallowed trophy as the Webb Ellis Cup.
