Peter O’Mahony launches into player half his size after butchering bonus point
Peter O’Mahony was not a happy man on Saturday after he knocked the ball on against Zebre, not happy at all.
The Ireland flanker had a the chance to put his winger Conor Phillips in for a potential bonus point try in the final ten minutes at Musgrave Park but ended up spilling the ball after Zebre winger Jacopo Trulla scragged him from behind. The Irishman was incensed, so the Italian took this as an opportunity to wind him up.
Trulla patted O’Mahony on the back and said something to set the 33-year-old off. The Munster captain grabbed Trulla on the neck, which started an all out brawl. This is not a good look as the winger is almost 30 kg lighter than him. Take a look at the brawl:
Munster earned their first win of the season in this match, although they failed to bag the bonus point, and the frustration was written all over O’Mahony’s face. The flanker was actually named man of the match, and discussed Zebre’s performance after the match. He said: “We’re certainly disappointed with some of our accuracy with regards to some of our attack, some of our breakdown stuff was a little bit sloppy. But I’m happy with the win.
“It’s like we got a little bit apprehensive. We kind of forced a bit of play at times. But look, they’re a good side. They’re getting better and better every year.”
