WATCH: Players run for their lives as raging bull breaks loose on field
The Catalan Dragons’ unorthodox method of giving their players an adrenaline rush prematch might have paid off on Friday against reigning Super League champions St Helens, but it is probably not something the players will vote for again.
Yes, for some bizarre reason there was a herd of bulls on the sideline of the Stade Gilbert Brutus as both sides warmed up on Friday evening, despite the glaring health and safety hazard that anyone could have spotted.
Shock horror, one of the bulls broke free and all hell broke loose on the field. Players were seen scrambling over advertising hoardings as the animal ran free, with its trainer being helplessly dragged along.
Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the committee in charge of the decision to invite a group of ferocious one ton + animals into a raucous stadium might think again in future.
Then again, from Catalans’ perspective the ends might justify the means, as they pulled off an inspired 24-12 victory over the reigning champions, who are aiming for their fifth Super League title in a row. After seeing a full grown bull charging directly at you, there aren’t going to be many humans that scare you.
Sky Sports captured the pandemonium, watch here:

The win left Catalans sitting in fourth place in the league, four points behind leaders Warrington Wolves, while St Helens are in seventh, albeit with a game in hand.
