Ronan O’Gara invents new language in expletive laden X-rated team talk
Somewhere between the languages of French, English and passion lies La Rochelle head coach Ronan O’Gara’s new language, and it is one that is very easy to understand.
A clip of the Irishman giving a team talk to his La Rochelle side has gone viral on social media this week, and it is no surprise why. O’Gara is speaking primarily in French, but with a sprinkling of English expletives. You do not need to know any French to pick up on words like energy, sacrifice and opportunity f*****g enorme, and get the gist of what he is saying. The passion is clear to see though.
This was ahead of La Rochelle’s Top 14 semi-final against Bordeaux Begles, and O’Gara’s team talk obviously did the trick as his side came away 24-13 winners. They did fall short in the final though, as Toulouse’s Romain Ntamack scored a last gasp try at the Stade de France to rob La Rochelle of a European and domestic double after they had already secured the Heineken Champions Cup.
