Wales flanker shares update after latest injury

Wales flanker Dan Lydiate has confirmed that he has had a metal plate put in his arm after breaking it against Argentina at the weekend.

The 34-year-old came off in the first half at the Principality Stadium on Saturday clutching his left arm, being replaced by Jac Morgan. Since then, Wales head coach Wayne Pivac has said that the former British & Irish Lion will be out for a while.

“They are both seeing specialists,” Pivac said.

“They are both out of this series, and they will not be back any time soon. They are both reasonably serious injuries.

“Obviously, we would like to think they will both be back at some stage during the Six Nations.”

In a social media post on Wednesday, the Dragons flanker confirmed that he has already been operated on and has had a metal plate in his arm, which only extends the catalogue of injuries that he has sustained during his long career. Then again, that is part and parcel with the way he plays the game.

This was his message:

Off the back of the win over Argentina, Pivac has made some changes to his XV ahead of a visit from Georgia this Saturday.
