WATCH: Jack Willis dropped by England just days after destroying Top 14 champs

Toulouse and England flanker Jack Willis might have only played 35 second half minutes on Sunday against Montpellier at the Stade Ernest Wallon, but they were a crucial 35 minutes seeing that his side were trailing 9-3 to the reigning Top 14 champions when he entered the fray.

From there he proved to be a handful for Montpellier, as Toulouse pulled away to win the contest 23-9 and extend their lead at the top of the league. Willis was at his usual best at the breakdown, which is more or less a given every time he takes to the field, but he tormented the Montpellier defence with ball in hand, even getting the assist for hooker Guillaume Cramont’s try.

Despite this display, he was still surplus to requirements with England this week, and was dropped from Steve Borthwick’s 29-player squad to prepare for the opening round of the Six Nations this Saturday against Scotland at Twickenham.

The good news for Toulouse is that the flanker will be available to play Bayonne this Saturday.

Take a look at his performance:
