WATCH: The sidestep so good it actually injured a player
The best way to measure how good a sidestep is usually is to see whether the tackler was able to touch the ball carrier. If not, it was a very good sidestep. But Hull FC’s Tex Hoy took that to a whole new level on Sunday.
In rugby league’s Super League, the fullback pulled off a sidestep against high fliers Warrington Wolves that was so good it actually injured the defender Greg Minikin.
After the Australian produced a savage right foot step after receiving the ball in the back field, Minikin slipped (not for the first time during the match) and was see clutching his knee in the background as Hoy not only made a break but set up a try for Josh Griffin. Fortunately he was not seriously injured and continued to play on, but must have been fairly embarrassed by his tackle attempt.
