Wild scenes as Crusaders prop pulls off monster lift at gym
If there is one thing that props love more than scrummaging it seems to be squatting, probably because it is a way of getting one over your opponents during the week.
With that in mind, Crusaders tighthead Fletcher Newell laid down a marker ahead of the new Super Rugby Pacific season with his exploits in the gym. The 21-year-old former New Zealand under-20 prop was filmed squatting an enormous 270kg this week and made his way onto social media.
The video was shared by the Crusaders, as the prop was willed on by his entire squad, who duly celebrated when he completed the lift.

The Crusaders will be hoping that Newell can transfer his monstrous strength in the gym onto the pitch when their Super Rugby season gets underway against the Hurricanes on Saturday February 19.
