World’s form player brutally bulldozed by Josua Tuisova

There is a good case that France and Toulouse fullback Thomas Ramos is the form player in the world at the moment- or is at least certainly up there.

Off the back of a decent Six Nations, the No15, alongside Antoine Dupont, put on an absolute clinic in their Heineken Champions Cup quarter-final against the Sharks last week. But it all came crashing down for him on Sunday evening against Lyon in the Top 14, and it took all 113kg of Fijian powerhouse Josua Tuisova to do so.

Ramos had the unenviable task of trying to stop the centre after he had picked up a head of steam, and even though that is an extremely tough task, he put up one of the limpest attempts possible.

After Tuisova had gathered a grubber by Romain Ntamack, he was in space with only Ramos in front of him. Now whether a player tries to stop Tuisova aggressively or passively, there is usually only one end result. However, Ramos does not come out showered in glory with his passive approach.

One moment the Frenchman was going high on Tuisova, the next moment he was upside down watching his opponent put Josiah Maraku in for a try under the sticks.

This was one of two assists that Tuisova got in the opening minutes of the match, as Lyon made a barnstorming start at the Stade Ernest-Wallon. However, the Top 14 leaders clawed their way back into the match and came away 36-31 winners.
