Wallaby still in outrageous shape after ACL injury

Wallabies centre Samu Kerevi provided some positive news this week regarding his ACL injury, saying he “Surely can play footy next week.”

The centre picked up an ACL injury in August when representing Australia Sevens at the Commonwealth games, but has provided some good news this week. The 29-year-old shared a video of himself and Quade Cooper rehabbing in Queensland ahead of their returns to Japan to represent Suntory Sungoliath and the Kintetsu Liners, respectively.

Just days after Kerevi’s injury, Cooper ruptured his Achilles tendon in the Rugby Championship against Argentina, leaving him in a race to be fit for the World Cup later this year. Those two headlined what was an unprecedented injury list for the Wallabies.

The injury news is slightly more positive for Kerevi though, who has shared videos of himself in the gym. His return to playing is still uncertain, but he seems confident that he can return to some form of action in the coming week.

One thing that is for certain is that he has not wasted away over the last six months, and still appears to have quads the size of the Wallabies’ starting and substitute No9s.

This was his message on Instagram: “Feeling very grateful for Tim & Josh. The team at QAS have helped push Quade & I these last couple of months with our rehab as we prepare for our clubs back in Japan. Hitting a few PB’s on testing day always feels onz, Surely can play footy next week .. also my mate felt left out so he wanted to compete & test his strong Hamstrings. Relax Quade Cooper your testing day is later. We’re working very hard for all 2023 season has to offer us.”

Cooper also commented on the post saying “enjoying the journey brother,” as the pair prepare to provide a massive boost for Dave Rennie and the Wallabies at some point this year.
