Ardie Savea grassroots try overshadowed by wild fight in background

Whether running out for the Hurricanes or the All Blacks, Ardie Savea is well accustomed to scoring tries. What he probably is not used to is the sight of one of his teammates throttling an opponent in the background as he goes over the line.

Then again, it is not every week that the international superstar is running out for his grassroots club. But the All Blacks No8 donned the black and white jersey of his former club Oriental Rongotai Rugby Club recently against Poneke in the Harper Lock Shield. However, the 70-cap All Black underwent a bizarre positional switch by playing at fullback for Ories.

Savea even ran in for a try, although the try was slightly overshadowed by a six-man brawl going on in back play.  This match was of course also a perfect opportunity for Savea to unleash and work on his trademark flamboyant dummy, which has had mixed success in the past.
