Ex Lion trolls Springboks’ Bryan Habana over 2009 series

Bryan Habana might have come away from the 2009 British & Irish Lions series a winner, but that does not mean the winger was faultless throughout the series, and former Lions scrum-half Mike Phillips gently reminded him of that recently.

After the Lions sent a post out on Twitter recently asking what everyone’s favourite Lions tour was, the Springboks great understandably replied with 2009. However, Phillips was quick to remind the World Cup winner of a run-in the two had in the first half of the second Test.

This incident in question saw Habana chase a kick-off ready to hit the Welshman. Phillips was able to evade Habana’s clutches at the last second, and the Bok went flying off screen. Phillips accompanied this with the caption “You missed a load of tackles on that tour mind!”

Phillips might have got one up on the winger on that occasion, but Habana had the last laugh by scoring a try in the second half to kickstart the Boks’ comeback and help deliver them a series win.
