EXCLUSIVE: RO gains behind-the-scenes shot of Henry Slade as Farrell sees red
While the vast, vast majority people associated in any way with England rugby would have been devastated seeing captain Owen Farrell red carded, potentially ending his World Cup participation early, there is one person that would have been delighted deep down- Henry Slade.
The England centre was one of the headline omissions from Steve Borthwick’s World Cup squad earlier this week, with Joe Marchant being selected instead.
While no one has heard directly from Slade since the England match, Rugby Onslaught has recently gained behind-the-scenes footage from the moment Farrell was red carded which perhaps gives an insight into how he might be feeling. Slade had invited a few friends over to his garden to watch the match, and the mood was quite upbeat.
Take a look at the scenes:

It is unclear what the fallout of this red card will be. Farrell will obviously been banned, but England fans wait with bated breath as to how long the ban will be. He will surely be banned for at least the first match of the World Cup, but could well miss the entire pool stage or even the tournament entirely. If that is the case, a call-up will be needed, and Slade will surely be the first on Borthwick’s list.
