Fans furious after All Black’s latest video ahead of World XV match
Anyone who loves free flowing rugby will surely be licking their lips at the thought of the Barbarians’ contest with the World XV on Sunday at Twickenham.
A Barbarians backline containing Quade Cooper and Samu Kerevi pales into insignificance compared to the likes of Ngani Laumape, Semi Radradra, Charles Piutau, Israel Folau and Sbu Nkosi, who are all set to start for the World XV.
But with just days to go until that contest, the former All Black Laumape posted a very worrying video indeed. Amid clips of Piutau and Folau running with the ball, and even captain Michele Lamaro producing a behind the back offload, there was a clip of Laumape kicking the ball. Now that is very worrying indeed.
With the players he has outside him, there is no circumstance where Laumape should ever be kicking the ball. Yes, maybe fly-half Adam Hastings is allowed to kick occasionally, but once the ball is in the 100kg centre’s hands, the only two options are either carry or pass. The former Hurricane actually has quick a nifty kicking game, so we will allow him the odd attacking cross-field kick, but it was not a cross-field kick in the video, it was a hoof and that is borderline criminal with the players he has outside him.
