Furious England fans rage at ‘liability’ Owen Farrell after latest red card
England fans have not hidden their fury after captain Owen Farrell picked up a red card against Wales in their World Cup warm-up.
Farrell was red carded in the second-half at Twickenham for what is now a trademark high shot on flanker Taine Basham, which now puts his World Cup participation in jeopardy- certainly ruling him out for the beginning of the tournament.
This was the latest in a long series of tackles of that nature by the England captain- some of which he has been punished for and some of which, maybe more famously, he has not been punished for.
This latest red card seemed to be the last straw for many England fans, with some even calling for him to retire now after repeated offences.
Here are some of the comments online:
“Serial offender. Correct decision, for once. Usually he gets away with it.”
“He is notorious for being the “shoulder boy” of world rugby. Maybe tackle school should be upgraded to a permanent water boy job.”
“When is someone going to do something about Farrell?? He is an absolute liability! This isn’t a new thing for him. It’s reoccurring, and everyone knows it, yet the coaches just seem to blindly ignore it and let him continue.”
“Strip him off the captaincy! Remove him from the squad! A LIABILITY, useless, encumbrance for the squad.”
“It’s time to say goodbye to Owen Farrell, he has been doing that shoulder charge for too long.”
“What an embarrassment. Warm up or not. He’s the captain. To have 3 in the bin …. Shocking.”
“Better off without him. Such a poor role model.”
“Think it’s about time he hung up his boots…. Sad to say but he’s not learning his lesson from previous times. Time to go.”

He is notorius for being the “shoulder boy” of world rugby. Maybe tackle school should be upgraded to a permanant water boy job.
