Huge hint dropped over Ellis Genge’s future
After the news was broken today that Leicester Tigers captain will be leaving Welford Road at the end of the season, his former Bristol Bears teammate Jamal Ford-Robinson dropped a huge hint over his future move.
The loosehead pair were teammates at Bristol five years ago before Genge moved to Leicester in 2016, and Ford-Robinson moved to Northampton Saints. Now with Gloucester, the 28-year-old Tweeted “see you soon bab” shortly after Genge’s departure was announced. Now this either suggests Genge could be on his way to Kingsholm with Gloucester next season, or the pair could reunite with Bristol again where they both hail from.
An alternative option is that the Tweet has nothing to do with Genge, and this is some classic pot stirring by Ford-Robinson, but it is enough for many of just to latch onto.

After Genge’s departure was announced, Leicester head coach Steve Borthwick said: “This is a personal decision for Ellis, which I know has not been easy for him, and, while disappointed, we respect his reasons for choosing to depart at season’s end.
“It has been a great privilege of mine to work with Ellis over the past five years, first with England and even more closely since I joined the club.
“We have a long way to go this season and Ellis is fully committed to finishing his time at Leicester Tigers in the same professional, passionate way he has during his six seasons at the club.”
Genge added: “I’ll be forever grateful for what this club has given me.
“I’ve created lifelong friendships and learned a great deal.
“The club has been amazing in understanding my reasons for this decision and I will continue to give everything I have got for the boys and the fans of Leicester Tigers for the rest of this season.”
Genge becomes the second high profile Tigers exit, after George Ford’s departure was announced last month.
