Owen Farrell demands England unveil game-changing tactic to solve woeful lineout

After England lost to Wales 20-9 at the Principality Stadium on Saturday in their first warm up Test before the World Cup, there are a lot of negatives for head coach Steve Borthwick. In fact, the biggest negative is that there are almost no positives from the loss, particularly following a second half where England basically forgot how to play rugby.

England have been hard at work since the loss ahead of a rematch at Twickenham this weekend, and have attempted to plug one hole, with that hole being the lineout. Wales tormented England at the lineout, and ensured that they struggled to have any clean ball. Captain Owen Farrell has now insisted that his side adopt one of the most daring and revolutionary tactics the game has ever seen. That tactic sees the fly-half himself throw the ball into the lineout.

The Saracens star was caught on film practicing his lineout throwing a few weeks ago, and the results seem pretty conclusive that he could seriously help his side out. After Jamie George, England are running thin on the ground when it comes to experienced hookers, so Farrell has decided to step up to the plate and help his side out.

With Farrell now becoming England’s new thrower at the lineout, it looks as though that have fixed one issue ahead of the World Cup. The now only need to fix their scrum, their defence, their attack and learn how to catch a ball.

Take a look at Farrell’s lineout throwing:
