Rugby 22: Watch All Blacks vs Australia in first taste of rugby’s new video game
The much-anticipated latest rugby video game hit the shelves yesterday, and now reviews and videos of Rugby 22 have been posted all over the web.
This is a topic that is taken very seriously amongst the rugby fandom, as there is an everlasting desire for rugby to have a game that can compete with video games from other sports like football, American football and basketball.
B Rugby has shared a video on YouTube of a match between the All Blacks and Australia on Rugby 22, while also showing what the menu and user-interface is like.
Take a look:
A high quality rugby game is not only important for fans, but has been a priority for some of the most senior figures of World Rugby. Argentina’s Agustin Pichot emphasised the need for a top level game while campaigning to become World Rugby Chairman in 2020. He said: “Rugby’s old-fashioned in terms of technology. I see my kids today and realise the importance of e-sports for the new generations. They play Fortnite, League of Legends, FIFA. All of the established sports markets are connected with digital games and that is a huge means of attracting a younger audience. FIFA 2020, NBA 2K20, NFL Madden.
“Rugby hasn’t had a decent game since Jonah Lomu Rugby in 1995, so that would be part of the remit for a dedicated World Rugby innovation department. You need to think about how you approach the modern fan. Young boys and girls. It’s not rocket science.”
This is what Rugby 22 wrote on their website:
