Savage bounce of the ball causes complete carnage
Never let the ball bounce. That should be lesson number one whenever anyone plays rugby, as allowing the ball to hit the deck can cause absolute pandemonium. And so it proved to be in Cardiff in the Women’s Six Nations between Wales and Scotland.
A first half dink from Scotland scrum-half Jenny Maxwell looked as though it was about to go dead after bouncing just before Wales’ dead ball line. Well at least that is certainly what Wales fullback Kayleigh Powell and winger Jasmine Joyce thought. But the rugby ball produced its unpredictable magic in Cardiff, not only remaining in the field of play, but actually bouncing over the two Welsh players. This meant the ball landed into the hands of Scotland wing Rhona Lloyd, who obligingly dotted down for one of the easiest tries she will ever score.
It probably could not be prevented in this situation, but it goes to prove- never let the ball bounce.
