Vermeulen hilariously treats two fighting backs like school children

“When Duane Vermeulen politely tells you to behave yourself, I think the thing to do is behave yourself,” where the words of the commentator as South Africa No8 Vermeulen grabbed hold of two fighting players yesterday.

As Ulster hosted the Sharks yesterday in the United Rugby Championship at the Kingspan Stadium, Sharks winger Werner Kok attempted a fairly energetic clearout on Ulster centre James Hume at the ruck and a fight ensued.

As the two scrapped, all 6’4″ and 120kg of the home side’s No8 Vermeulen towered over the two of them and pulled them apart. It must have been quite demeaning for the two players to be separated as if they were school children. After pulling them apart, Vermeulen just smirked at his compatriot Kok.

Ulster came away with the 24-21 win, securing them a home quarter final in the URC and therefore condemning the Sharks to an away quarter-final. Ulster will now host Munster in two weeks in an all Irish affair, while the Sharks will travel to the Bulls in an all South African affair. Meanwhile, Leinster will host the Glasgow Warriors and the Stormers will host Edinburgh.
