Viral monster penalty in Ireland must be one of the longest of all time
Take a bow George Coomber after pulling off one of the longest penalties of all time recently in the Energia All-Ireland League.
The Cork Constitution fullback’s atomic right foot has gone viral this week after his penalty against Ballynahinch on Sunday in his side’s 19-17 win.
The kick was from well within his own half and was only a few metres in from the touchline, meaning it was probably 60 metres or more at a tight angle.
Irish Rugby shared the video on Twitter, writing: “There are long-range penalties, really long-range penalties and then there’s *this* from @CorkConRugbyFC‘s George Coomber who landed this penalty from the car park against @HinchRFC in the #EnergiaAIL this weekend.”
Some people online have pointed out that the kick was wind assisted, which it was in all fairness. But wind or not, a kick from that distance and that angle is impressive.
